Haha—no, you’re not missing anything. You are correct! Sapta means ‘seven’ in Sanskrit and in the book. Nicknames aren’t a ‘thing’ in Svarga, so Agni found it endearing when Ezra shortened Saptajihva (especially considering ‘Sapta’ is no longer a direct association to Agni which completely defeats the whole intention of naming a fat, orange cat after him). As you’ll see throughout Triloka, Ezra is particularly lazy at articulation with foreign words—which is why he also calls Chitragupta- “Chit”.
And Saptajihva and Chitragupta aren’t even the most complex he’ll be hearing 😉 Thanks for the Ask!
