Do dead people remember their past lives, like the ones in the river do they fully recollect the live they lived, also when Kai sees Layla in the river she seems to be following her mom, does she still recognize her mom now that they are both dead. Since the atrins do not loose their memories I was wondering if it’s the same for the mortals.
Heya Meerkat. Yes, (most) mortal souls certainly remember their past life. However, it is not immediate. They enter a trance-like state as soon as their soul is shepherded from the mortal realm and into Naraka. They experience a warm, blissful nothingness until they are summoned from the Vaitarna River for Judgement. Of course, that is the ideal scenario. There are instances where the mortal soul doesn’t get the opportunity to stand before the God of Death & Justice. The longer they dwell in the river without Judgement, and/or the more corrupt they may have been in their past life, the higher the possibility of them growing restless and transforming into a damned entity.
The fact that Leyla and Adeen were together was merely happenstance, as their time of death was relatively close together.
