[Reader Ask:] Hello lovely author, I have a question. In book three Dhumavati tells Ezra you’re HER son, who was she referring to in this scene? At the time she and Yama met, Ember was already possessing another body and I’m not sure Dhumavati ever saw Embers corpse, so I just want to know if she’s referring to Ember or someone else ( lady parvati is my guess ).
Thanks for answering my previous question though I still want to know, if hypothetically Agni were to die and be replaced who would be in charge of raising his replacement? And what did Indra mean by saying his replacement would belong to the Adityas ( I know you said Agni was only angry due to his fear of being replaced but I still want to know what Indra meant when he said that. )
You are a very perceptive reader!! 😊 Your questions are great ones, but I’d say most of them are semi-spoilers, since we will address them all at some point in the next book (even if only briefly). I will say you’re on the right track with Dhumavati. She was not talking about Ember but rather about another goddess with whom she shares an affinity 😉
As far as your replacement deity question: Indra merely intended to get under Agni’s skin with that comment, but his claim is not out of the realm of possibilities. Without spoiling much, if Agni were to die, the Adityas would take over his replacement’s upbringing (and possibly gain custody over Ezra) unless Varuna or Vayu steps in. Kartikeya was snatched up by the Adityas, after all. They have the most clout in Svarga, and Agni’s parents, while still alive, aren’t in a position to raise fledglings (they never have been). And Agni wasn’t exactly the easiest fledgling to raise, which brings in a whole other element.
We’ll explore Agni’s family in more detail in the next book, and that should help explain things a bit more clearly.
Thanks for reaching out 🤍
